What personal data I collect and why I collect it


When visitors leave comments on the site it collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you contact me through the website contact form, I will use the information in response to your question or concern. Your address will be stored in the database for that purpose only. You will not be contacted outside of that purpose unless you subscribe to our email newsletter.

If you subscribe to my newsletter, you will be contacted for our email newsletter and marketing emails for my site only. This information will be stored through my email service. You are able to unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link at the bottom of each email.

If you schedule a consultation through the calendar on the Contact Page, your contact information will be shared with my scheduling company. I will use that solely to contact you at the scheduled time.


If you leave a comment on my site, you can opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, the website will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Who we share your data with

I use Google Analytics to track visitors behavior on our site. This allows me to see who visits our site and what areas interest them the most. While Google Analytics does notice what country visitors are from, it does not store the IP-address of visitors.

This website uses Google fonts. This requires that your data be transmitted to Google for font use.

For marketing purposes, data is shared with advertising networks, including Sharaholic, Facebook, and Pinterest. This provides more advertising content that might be useful to you.

This website uses affiliate links. If you leave the website through these links, data is collected regarding your behavior on the other site. This data is used to provide compensation to us according to the agreement set forth in the affiliate programs.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Contact information shared with me through sign-ups on the website is shared to my mail server.

Contact information shared with me through my scheduling tool is shared with my scheduling service.

Data is sent to the Sharaholic advertising network, to Facebook through a Pixel, and to Pinterest through the use of tags.
